John L. Sullivan
John L. Sullivan is a lifelong rancher and businessman who is the principal owner of Sullivan Companies and its subsidiaries. Over his career Mr. Sullivan has been involved in real estate development; commodity handling and sales, heavy equipment service, and commercial and residential construction. He is the former president and co-owner of Texas International Terminals and a founding director and board member of Texas First Bank.
Mr. Sullivan is currently a director for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and a member of the Galveston and Texas Associations of Realtors. He has served on the Galveston City Council and as mayor pro-tem, as chairman of the Veterans Land Board, member of the Coastal Coordination Council, Galveston College board of regents, and as an officer with the Galveston chamber of commerce. Born in Galveston, Sullivan graduated from Ball High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University at College Station where he was a member of the corps of cadets, and did postgraduate work in real estate and appraising at The University of Texas at Austin.
John R. “Rocky” Sullivan
Mr. Sullivan is a principal for Sullivan Companies, a diversified, family-owned real estate, agriculture, and investment business based in Galveston, TX. His responsibilities include setting the long term direction and management of the company's subsidiaries including Newport Marine Terminal, an industrial park and offshore marine service facility; residential and commercial developments; and cattle and farming operations in Texas and Iowa. In addition, he is responsible for deal and capital sourcing for equity investment. Mr. Sullivan is also one of the principal owners of the GalvestonYacht Basin.
Mr. Sullivan is a fifth generation Galvestonian and currently serves on the UTMB Galveston National Laboratory community liaison committee and the city of Galveston charter review committee. He is an avid member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and is passionate about ranching and wildlife. Mr. Sullivan is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.B.A in Marketing and was a member of the Corps of Cadets and Parsons Mounted Cavalry. He continued his education in post graduate work at the school of Ranch Management at Texas Christian University.
